Bali's most iconic dive destination. Manta rays at Manta Point year-round. Mola mola at Crystal Bay July-October. Dramatic walls and pristine coral.
Diving Nusa Penida, Bali
Nusa Penida is Bali's premier dive destination, famous worldwide for its encounters with giant oceanic manta rays at Manta Point and the rare ocean sunfish (mola mola) at Crystal Bay during season (July-October). The island's dive sites feature dramatic underwater topography with deep walls, strong currents that bring in pelagic species, and pristine coral gardens. Sites like Toyapakeh and SD Point offer calmer conditions with beautiful reef systems. The 45-minute speedboat crossing from Sanur adds an element of adventure to every trip.
Our Nusa Penida manta trip is a full day experience. We pick you up from your hotel in Canggu, Seminyak, Sanur, Ubud, or anywhere in Bali, drive to Sanur harbor, and board the speedboat for the 45-minute crossing to Nusa Penida. The day typically includes 2-3 dives at sites selected based on conditions and what you most want to see. Manta Point is always the highlight.

Nusa Penida Diving FAQs
When can I see manta rays at Nusa Penida?
Manta rays can be seen year-round at Manta Point. The cleaning station attracts both reef mantas and giant oceanic mantas. Larger aggregations are common during the dry season (April-November), but even in the wet season sightings are frequent.
What certification do I need for Nusa Penida?
Advanced Open Water certification is strongly recommended for Manta Point due to strong currents. Some calmer sites like Toyapakeh and SD Point are suitable for Open Water divers. We assess conditions on the day and brief divers accordingly.
How do we get to Nusa Penida?
We take a 45-minute speedboat from Sanur harbor. We pick you up from your hotel anywhere in Bali, drive to Sanur, and handle all boat bookings. You just need to turn up and enjoy the crossing.
Can I see mola mola (ocean sunfish) diving?
Mola mola season at Crystal Bay is July to October, when cold water upwellings bring these massive fish into shallower cleaning stations. Outside this season, mola mola sightings are rare but not impossible at depth.
