Your first scuba dive is an exciting milestone. Whether you are doing Discover Scuba or starting your Open Water course, proper preparation makes the experience smoother and more enjoyable.
Medical clearance: PADI requires all divers to complete a medical questionnaire. Most healthy people can dive, but conditions like asthma, heart problems, or epilepsy may require a doctor's clearance. Complete the form honestly.
Physical preparation: you do not need to be athletic, but basic swimming ability is required. Practice breathing slowly and deeply -- this is the most important skill in diving. If you are anxious, practice breathing exercises beforehand.
What to bring: swimwear, towel, reef-safe sunscreen, your medication (if any), a light change of clothes, and your certification card (if doing fun dives). We provide all diving equipment.
What NOT to do before diving: do not fly for at least 12 hours before diving (decompression risk in reverse). Do not drink alcohol the night before. Do not dive with a cold or sinus congestion.
Mental preparation: it is completely normal to feel nervous. Our instructors are experienced with nervous beginners and will never rush you. The pool/confined water session is specifically designed to build your confidence before the ocean dive.
On the day: eat a light breakfast, stay hydrated, arrive at the pickup point on time (we come to your hotel), and most importantly -- relax and enjoy the experience.
