Padang Bai is an east coast port town that doubles as an excellent dive destination. Blue Lagoon, hidden behind the main port, features a gentle coral slope teeming with marine life in crystal-clear water.
Blue Lagoon is perfect for beginners and underwater photography. The shallow coral garden (5-15m) is home to clownfish, blue-spotted stingrays, cuttlefish, and leaf scorpionfish. Visibility is typically 15-25 meters, and currents are mild.
Tanjung Jepun offers more advanced diving with a wall dropping to 30+ meters covered in soft corals and sea fans. Reef sharks, eagle rays, and schools of trevally patrol the deeper areas.
The Jetty dive is a unique macro experience on the pilings of the old port structure, where frogfish, seahorses, and nudibranchs thrive on the artificial substrate. A night dive at The Jetty is particularly rewarding.
Padang Bai is an easy 1.5-hour drive from Canggu, making it one of the closest quality dive sites for south Bali visitors. We typically do 2-3 dives and can combine the trip with cultural stops in east Bali.
