About Discover Scuba Diving

Discover Scuba Diving is the perfect way to try scuba for the first time. You will start with a poolside briefing where your PADI instructor explains basic skills and safety. Then you will practice in shallow water before heading to the ocean for your first real dive. Experience the weightlessness of being underwater and see Bali's colorful marine life up close. This program is designed for complete beginners -- no prior experience or certification required.

The Discover Scuba experience in Bali is particularly magical because of the island's incredible marine biodiversity. Even in shallow training dives, you are likely to see colorful reef fish, sea turtles, clownfish in their anemones, and vibrant coral formations. Our instructors are passionate about sharing Bali's underwater world and will point out interesting creatures throughout your dive.

After your Discover Scuba experience, many participants become inspired to pursue full PADI certification. If this happens to you, we offer a pathway: the time and skills you demonstrate during the DSD can sometimes count toward your Open Water course if you continue within a short period. Ask your instructor about this option at the end of your session.

Discover Scuba

Did my PADI Open Water here and it was hands down the best decision of my Bali trip. Instructors are patient, knowledgeable, and made me feel safe the entire time. The Tulamben wreck dive on day 3 was unreal.

The Nusa Penida manta trip was absolutely incredible. Saw 4 mantas on the first dive and the Crystal Bay dive was equally stunning. Small group, great guide, perfect day.

Discover Scuba FAQs

What is Discover Scuba Diving?

Discover Scuba Diving is a PADI introductory program for complete beginners. No prior experience or certification is needed. A PADI instructor guides you through basic skills in shallow water, then accompanies you on your first ocean dive. It is a 1-day program priced at Rp 1.200.000.

Do I need to know how to swim?

You should be comfortable in water, but you do not need to be a strong swimmer. Our instructors stay beside you throughout the session. For reference, the PADI Open Water certification requires swimming 200m, but Discover Scuba has a lower threshold.

What should I bring?

Just yourself, a swimsuit, and sunscreen. We provide all equipment including wetsuit, BCD, regulator, mask, and fins. A towel and change of clothes are useful. Leave valuables at your hotel.

Is it safe to go scuba diving for the first time?

Yes, under PADI certified supervision. Your instructor is specifically trained to guide beginners through their first dive safely. We carry emergency oxygen, use well-maintained equipment, and conduct a thorough briefing before every session. Your safety is our absolute priority.

After the DSD, can I do the full PADI course?

Absolutely. Many DSD participants go on to complete the full PADI Open Water certification. Ask your instructor after your session about starting the Open Water course. Some of your DSD experience may count toward the course requirements.
