Uluwatu occupies the southwestern tip of the Bukit Peninsula, with towering limestone cliffs dropping into the Indian Ocean. The area is renowned for powerful surf breaks, the ancient Uluwatu Temple with its kecak fire dance at sunset, and a growing collection of cliff-edge beach clubs and boutique hotels. Uluwatu is the furthest major tourist area from the dive sites, so early pickups (5-5:30am) are essential. The journey is worth it -- combine a dive day with an evening kecak dance at the temple.
